TI-86 - Is this the calculator I’m looking for?:
Are you looking for the Texas Instruments TI-86 graphing calculator? If your answer is “Yes” there is no need to read the following information. However, if this calculator sounds like the one you need but you are not sure, keep on reading.
If you are not sure because your syllabus, your professor, your classmates, or your friends call it differently, chances are that if it has a “T” and a “6” somewhere in there, this is the one. Over the years we have seen how people call the TI-86 graphing calculator different names. This has been common ever since Texas Instruments introduced it in 1997. Some of these names are simple abbreviations but others confuse students when they find the correct calculator but the name or description they were given does not match precisely. Read the following nicknames or common misspelled variations of the “TI-86 graphing calculator” only if you are confused or for some reason you are still wondering if this calculator is the one you are looking for.
Starting with the most popular nicknames are the Tl-86 (with a lower case “L”) and the T1-86 (with a number “1”). Some people simply remove the space therefore calling it the TI86 (with a capital “i”), the Tl86 (with a lower case “L”) and the T186 (with a number “1”). Interestingly enough, other people seem to like the sound of “Plus” and add one therefore calling it the TI-86 plus and the TI-86+ (with a capital “i”), the Tl-86 plus and the Tl-86+ (with a lower case “L”) and the T1-86 plus and the T1-86+ (with a number “1”).
Replacing a character or omitting a space or dash is common. At times however, people do a little bit of both and then some. When this happens people ask about renting t-186, t-86, and t86 scientific calculators. Scientific calculator rentals is something we do not offer for rent at the present time. At this time we offer graphing calculators for rent but not scientific calculators. If you need a “scientific calculator” buying a cheap new or used for around $10 is probably your best option. Assuming you need a “graphing calculator” and leaving the most interesting and controversial “descriptions” for last are the TI-86 graphic, grafic, grafing, grafting, graphting, graphics, and grafics calculator and sometimes even called calculater (with an “e” at the end).
Luckily, 99.9% of the time all of those descriptions refer to the one and only Texas Instruments TI-86 graphing calculator. With that said, if this is the calculator you are looking for and would like to receive your calculator rental promptly (calculators are shipped out daily) click on the “Order it now!” button at the top of this page and place your order today.
